Frequently asked questions
Why don't my numbers match Shopify?
Don't worry — your numbers match! We just slice and dice things a little differently.
Most users compare Kleio's numbers to Shopify's Finance Summary overview. Here, Kleio's Revenue equals Shopify's Total sales down to the cent (remember that Shopify shows Total sales incl. tax and you can toggle tax on/off in Kleio).
The rows above (Gross sales, Discounts, Returns, Shipping) won't always line up one-to-one with Shopify because Shopify excludes tax and anything shipping-related in those rows. For example, Kleio's Gross sales = product sales + shipping revenue before discounts and refunds, while Shopify's Gross sales only includes product revenue (still before discounts and refunds).
The final Revenue number comes out the same. We just think it's more correct to include shipping in everything — shipping is money hitting your bank too, so we want to be able to analyze that as well.
If you've enabled Skip orders with 0 in sales under Settings → Filters, your numbers might also differ from Shopify because free/100%-discount orders are excluded entirely in Kleio while Shopify still counts them.
See the full row-by-row breakdown in Comparing with Shopify.
How do I create quantity-based COGS?
Open Costs → Custom COGS and create a custom cogs with quantity tiers. Each tier lets you define a cost based on how many the customer bought. You can create custom cogs by product, by variant, and targeting specific shipping countries. Read more here.
Do you automatically pull transaction costs for Shopify Payments?
Yes. Transaction fees on orders paid via Shopify Payments are pulled directly from Shopify and attributed to the order automatically.
Fees for non-Shopify-Payments processors (PayPal, Klarna, MobilePay, etc.) aren't visible to Shopify, so there's no way for us to pull them. For those, add a manual variable cost with the relevant payment-method filter — typically a per-order cost for the flat fee and a percentage-of-sales cost for the percentage fee.
Do you have a mobile app?
No, we don't have a native iOS or Android app. The dashboard already works great on phones, so a native app would be a lot of effort for very little upside. You can open app.getkleio.com on your phone and add the page to your home screen for an app-like experience. Read more here.
